2024 Prague Instagram Spots

Prague attracts millions of travelers each year.

From Baroque palaces and fairytale vistas to comfort food and cheap beer, it’s no wonder it’s the seventh most visited city in all of Europe.

If it’s your first time visiting, get your camera ready and be prepared to be blown away!

Famous Landmarks

1. Charles Bridge

Charles Bridge is Europe’s oldest stone bridge. It crosses the Vltava river and connects Prague Castle to the Old Town.

Since this is one of the most popular Prague photo spots, I recommend going early to skip the crowds.

Sunrise here is absolutely mesmerizing. And even if the weather doesn’t work out, some rain and fog can really add to the medieval moody vibes.

2. Prague Castle

St. Vitus Cathedral.

Prague Castle spans across 70,000 square meters and is the largest coherent castle complex in the world.

Golden Lane.

Its history dates back to 1,000 years ago when the castle was founded by Prince Bořivoj of the Premyslid Dynasty. Today, it is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site, and is used as the Czech president’s office.

The castle is free to enter. However, you need to purchase tickets to see its exhibit.

3. Old Town Square

During the Middle Ages, public executions were considered entertainment. Old Town Square was where the kings’ army would gather and commoners would watch these punishments.

Astronomical Clock – the oldest in Europe!

While history has moved on (thankfully, phew!), Old Town Square remains to be an integral part of Prague.

Apart from the most photographed Astronomical Clock, here are additional sights that will make for great pictures of Prague:

• Kinsky Palace
• Stone Bell House

4. Old Town Bridge Tower

Drones aren’t cheap and operation laws are becoming more and more strict. Luckily, there’s a way to capture an aerial shot of Prague safely and without breaking bank.

Old Town Bridge Tower is a 14th-century Gothic structure built by Emperor Charles IV. There are a total of 138 steps to the gallery and it offers the best sunset views.

5. The Powder Tower (Prašná brána)

The Powder Tower, or The Powder Gate, is a Gothic tower that separates Prague’s Old Town from the New Town.

You can climb its 186 steps to admire the city from above. Or, if you don’t feel like paying 190 CZK, you can strut down the crosswalk and pose for a #vacationgram for free.

Parks/Gardens

6. Letná Park

From catching up with friends over a picnic on the park bench to testing out new tricks on a skateboard, Letná Park is a where locals go to hang out.

It’s actually one of my favorite Prague Instagram spots and you absolutely need to put it on your Prague itinerary.

7. Park Cihelná

Park Cihelná is a waterfront park that runs along the Vltava river. It is known for swan spotting and is perfect for Prague photography.

Of the two times I’ve been here, I did not see any swans whatsoever. (My first visit was during fall and I came back a second time in the summer.)

If you wish to try your luck and feed the swans here, bring veggies. E.g. lettuce, corn, carrots, potatoes, or peas. So many blogs and guidebooks say to bring bread, but bread can actually cause dietary problems when fed in large quantities!

8. Gardens Below the Castle

As its name suggests, Gardens Below the Castle is a beautiful garden oasis situated right below Prague Castle.

Admission is 140 CZK per person. Or, 100 CZK if the admissions lady is feeling generous and doesn’t want you to dig for change.

9. Waldstein Garden

This geometric Baroque garden was built along with the Wallenstein Palace from 1623 to 1629.

Its idyllic setting is suitable for afternoon strolls. During summer, it even turns into an event space for concerts and theatrical performances.

10. The Vrtba Garden

The Vrtba Garden is an Italian-style palace garden situated on Petřín Hill.

While it’s one of the city’s smaller gardens, František Maxmilián Kaňka’s distinctive architectural design makes it a unique gem in Europe.

11. Královská obora Stromovka

Královská obora Stromovka is another scenic park fit for walks and picnics.

Because of its geographic location on the Vltava river, it’s also where locals go to cool off in the summer.

12. Grébovka

Grébovka, or Havlíčkovy sady, is an Italian Renaissance-inspired park with gorgeous lakes, fountains, grottos, pavilions, and statues.

It offers fantastic views of the city and if you’re thirsty or want a place to sit, the garden cafe here is a charming replica of the 1870 historic bowling alley.

Galleries, Libraries, and Museums

13. Národní Muzeum (The National Museum)

Museum Complex of the National Museum.

Národní Muzeum is the largest museum in the Czech Republic.

It is separated into five specialized departments: the Natural History Museum, the Historical Museum, the National Museum Library, the Czech Museum of Music, and the Náprstek Museum.

There are a total of 20 million collections of natural history specimens and cultural artifacts combined, and you can easily spend an entire afternoon exploring its exhibitions.

14. Municipal Library of Prague

The Municipal Library of Prague is a public library known for its iconic book tower.

This viral sensation consists of 8,000 books and strategically placed mirrors that appear to be a never-ending spiral of knowledge.

15. Baroque Library

The Baroque Library at the Clementinum Astronomical Tower is one of the most beautiful libraries I have ever visited.

Visits can only be done via guided tours and you sadly don’t get to step foot in the actual library. (You admire it from a distance behind a rope.)

Flash photography is not allowed and you can only take pictures using your phone.

16. Strahov Library

Strahov Library is one of the best-preserved historical libraries.

It is made up of two halls: the Baroque Theological Hall and the Philosophical Hall. Both are adorned with ceiling frescoes by Siard Nosecký and Anton Maulbertsch, and consist of 200,000 volumes combined.

17.  House at the Black Madonna

The House at the Black Madonna is a cubist structure located in Old Town.

Its spiral staircase resembles a lightbulb and is a common subject in photos of Prague. 

Theaters & Opera Houses

18. State Opera

As part of Prague’s National Theatre, the State Opera hosts regular opera and ballet performances.

It is housed within a Neo-Renaissance building featuring Neo-Rococo interior décor, and is a must-see even if you’re not into operas or ballets.

19. National Theatre

The National Theatre’s history dates back to 1881. Its exterior and interior are embellished with gold and decorated with masterpieces by 19th century Czech painters, Aleš, Ženišek, Hynais, and Myslbek just to name a few.

From classic music and jazz concerts to opera and ballet performances, it embodies Czech Republic’s national identity and culture.

Observatories

20. Petřín Lookout Tower

Petřín Tower is kind of like Prague’s very own Eiffel Tower. (It took inspiration from the French icon and is the exact same altitutde.)

Admission costs 220 CZK per person and there are a total of 299 steps to the top. You can either walk or pay an extra 150 CZK to take an elevator ride instead.

Murals

21. Lennon Wall

Believe it or not, Beatles member, John Lennon, never physically set foot in Prague. Like ever!

So why exactly is there an entire wall of murals dedicated to him?

The Lennon Wall, or John Lennon Wall, is a creative outlet for artists to express their thoughts. It symbolizes peace, love, and freedom.

Since the 1980s, it has been painted over and over again, and is one of the most colorful Prague Instagram spots.

Fun Shops

22. Quadrio

Outside of the Quadrio shopping center sits David Cerny’s Franz Kafka statue.

This giant rotating head depicts Kafka’s tortured personality and unrelenting self-doubt.

23. Koruna Palace

Prague truly is a photographer’s playground.

If you enjoy shooting architecture, head over to Palác Koruna at the bottom of Wenceslas Square.

This Art Nouveau-style retail-business center houses a number of shops, restaurants, and offices. Look up and you’ll see that the ceiling is styled in the shape of a crown.

Cafés

24. Café Savoy

A cute café that serves up classic French and Czech brunch dishes? Yes, please!

Café Savoy is Prague’s most famous breakfast restaurant. In fact, its name is so well-known that reservations must be made months in advance.

I visited mid-September on a weekday (by myself) and was told that there were no seats available at all.

That said, I ordered a cup of joe and some pastries to go. And trust me when I say these were some of the best pastries I’ve ever had in my life!

25. LAb

LAb is a zero waste bar and bistro focused on providing sustainable dining experiences using local supplies and seasonal raw ingredients. (They have coined this the LAb-oratory new approach.)

It sits along the Vltava river and while its views are eye candy, its giant circle door is what makes it one of the most unique Prague photo spots.

Restaurants

26. CODA

When it comes to fine dining, CODA Restaurant ranks a one of the top establishments in Prague.

It is located inside Aria Hotel Prague and it features a stunning rooftop terrace overlooking the city’s greatest gems.

Take babe here for date night and I guarantee that they’ll be impressed 😉

27. Kuchyň

After exploring Prague Castle, you’ll probably be feeling tired and hungry.

Why not stop by at Kuchyň for a cold beer and some local delights!

Bars

28. Terasa U Prince

Terasa U Prince is known for its IG-famous #bubblepointview overlooking Old Town Square.

Despite it being super touristy and a little overpriced, you really can’t ask for a better photo backdrop. 

Unique Architecture

29. Dancing House

The Dancing House is a prime example of modern architecture in Prague.

It was built by world-renowned architects, Vlado Milunić and Frank O. Gehry, to mimic a famous film couple dancing. (The stone tower represents Fred Astaire and the glass tower is meant to be Ginger Rogers.)

While its beauty is highly debated, it’s a sight not to be missed.

30. Jerusalem Synagogue

As the newest and largest synagogue in Prague, Jerusalem Synagogue mixes Art Nouveau architecture with Moorish style.

It is an active synagogue and is named in honor of the silver Jubilee of Emperor Franz Joseph I of Austria
