Hey there! It’s nice to e-meet you and welcome to my travel blog.
My name is Jasmine (or Jas for short). I was born in Taipei, Taiwan and immigrated to Canada with my family when I was 9 years old. I have been living in Vancouver ever since and if you can’t already tell, I kind of have an obsession with travelling.
As someone who works full-time in the digital marketing field, I get 10 paid vacation days a year. And that’s definitely not a lot, which is exactly why I utilize long weekends to maximize my travels. By sharing my journey as well as the valuable lessons I’ve learnt along the way, I hope to inspire and challenge you to get out there and see the world.
My Suitcase Journeys
In 2014, I did a summer abroad program in France for six weeks. As part of the class I was taking, I kept a blog of any interesting experiences I’d encountered. By the end of the six weeks, I decided to keep blogging and here we are!
So why “My Suitcase Journeys”? M and Y are the initials of my Chinese name. M for “ming,” (明) which means bright and intelligent, and Y for “yu” (愉) – joy and happiness. Likewise with travelling, there’s laughter involved, but you obviously can’t be happy-go-lucky about everything. Sometimes you need to be smart with how you travel whether that is budgeting your trip wisely or just being street smart in general so you don’t get scammed and potentially get your organs harvested (rip).
So what are you still waiting for! Come follow me around the globe and join my exciting expeditions!
