So you’ve had a stressful week at work pleasing your boss to get that promotion you’ve always wanted. Or maybe you’re sick and tired of being woken up at 3am from the screaming cries of your newborn baby. Either way it’s time to escape reality and treat yourself to a mini staycation at JW Marriott Parq Vancouver!
JW Marriott Parq Vancouver
Address: 39 Smithe St, Vancouver, BC V6B 0R3
Phone Number: (604) 676-0888
Check-In Time: 4:00PM
Check-Out Time: 12:00PM
About the Hotel
JW Marriott Parq Vancouver is one of two luxury hotels in Parq Vancouver, which is a premier entertainment destination that recently opened in 2017. In addition to these two hotels, Parq consists of a 72,000 square-foot casino, an outdoor park, world-class restaurants and bars, a spa, a salon as well as an aqua lounge just to name a few.
The hotel itself accommodates 281 rooms + 48 suites and is conveniently located by Yaletown and Gastown – two of Vancouver’s best neighborhoods for foodie adventures. If you are looking to attend a Canucks game or a concert/show, this makes for the perfect stay too as it is literally steps to Rogers Arena and BC Place.
Check-In & Check-Out
Check-in begins at 4pm, which is a tad later than most hotel’s 3pm policy, but is still considered fairly standard. For a staycation, there is no rush of course. You can even arrive a little earlier and relax at the Executive Lounge*. If, however, you are visiting from out of country and wish to explore Vancouver, I recommend storing your luggage here first to maximize time.
Despite not being given an early check-in, I did request for a later check-out at 1pm that was granted at no additional cost.
*Executive Lounge access is only available to guests who are Marriott Bonvoy members.
1 Bedroom Executive Suite
All 1 Bedroom Executive Suites are situated on upper floors and have expansive views of Vancouver’s city skyline and waterfront scenery. Each suite features a cozy bedroom with one king-size bed and a separate living area with sofa, coffee table with chairs, and dining room table for meals. On top of that, there are two bathrooms: one half and one full ensuite with a bath tub. The overall layout felt very homey and practical. In fact, I almost forgot I was staying at a hotel!
Beautifully decorated living area.
Standard mini bar with coffee maker, snacks, and drinks.
Six bottles of complimentary bottled water.
Warm welcome note and delightful treats from Amy. Thank you!
Main bedroom area.
Additional blanket and pillows atop.
Ensuite bathroom during daylight. Cloudy, but you can still see the iconic Science World.
A staycation simply isn’t complete without a relaxing bath tub soak!
This is the closet + powder room area right beside the suite entrance.
Very convenient that there is a shoe cabinet beside the main door.
Half bath. Or as I called it, the powder room~
Again, guests who are Marriott Bonoy members are given exclusive access to JW Marriott Executive Lounge. From breakfast to all-day snacks, the lounge is constantly stocked with delicious goodies. I especially loved that the staff were encouraging guests to take food back to their rooms. Certain hotels limit consumption to within the lounge only, but you know how staycations can get. Sometimes you just wanna snack on a cookie or pretzel while watching TV in bed.
Lots of drink options from hot to cold and from 2% milk to soy or almond milk. All diets are accommodated!
These cookies were crunchy on the outside and super chewy on the inside. My absolute favorite <3
Honey Salt is a neighborhood restaurant serving up farm to table cuisine with locally and regionally sourced ingredients. I had the pleasure of dining here for dinner and the food was absolutely delightful. A couple of my favorites were the Garlic Shrimp, Organic Squash Risotto, Diver Scallops, and Society Chocolate & Bannaa Cake.
Green Daisy left; Killer Queen right.
Garlic Shrimp left; Grandma Rosie’s Turkey Meatballs right.
Organic Squash Risotto. So sooooo good!
They also offer a special weekend brunch menu as well as weekend afternoon tea that I’m for sure coming back for in the future. Extraordinary service with phenomenal food. Definitely not to be missed!
Spa & Fitness
While I unfortunately did not get to experience Spa by JW, I did take a dip in the heated whirlpool.
As for the fitness side of things… From cardio to weights, JW’s Fitness Center has everything you could possibly think of. There are more than one of the same machine too so you don’t have to wait in line for someone else to finish their sets. Definitely the best hotel gym I have ever seen!
