About Hotel Stripes KL

As a member of Autograph Collection Hotels, Hotel Stripes KL is located in Kuala Lumpur’s urban downtown district – Jalan Kamunting. The hotel itself has a distinctive edgy yet modern chic style and its vibrant atmosphere is defined by the local scene of Jalan Kamunting’s old and new.

Getting Here

From Kuala Lumpur International Airport, guests can easily reach the hotel via taxi or Grab (aka Uber of Southeast Asia). The ride takes approximately 50 minutes to an hour and my Grab fare was RM 74.80 (~18 USD/$25 CAD).

Check-In

As stated above, check-in starts at 3:00PM. Early check-in is available upon request, but it does depend on the status of your room. I.e. how early the previous guests check-out and how fast the room gets cleaned.

My flight landed around 10:15AM and I was able to check-in right away.

The Studio features one king size bed as well as a sofa bed and accommodates up to three guests. It occupies 38sqm, which for myself – one guest only – was more than enough room. There is a spacious desk too for writing/work making this room perfect for both business and leisure travels alike.

Brasserie 25

Mushroom soup and duck confit for dinner.
Brasserie 25 is Hotel Stripes KL’s one and only restaurant (apart from its private dining venue, The Snug, on the second floor).

Breakfast is buffet-style and hosted here every morning. It is, of course, complimentary. The dishes are mainly Western breakfast items (bread, omelette, sausages, etc.) with a few local delicacies like nasi lemak. I personally thought the breakfast was pretty mediocre, but I did particularly enjoy their freshly made blueberry yogurt smoothies.

Apart from regular lunch and dinner services, afternoon tea is also available on weekends from 3:00PM to 6:00PM.

Man Tao Bar

Complete review of Hotel Stripes Kuala Lumpur.

Unfortunately, I was a little under the weather my entire time in Malaysia hence I spent most of the days in my room catching up on Netflix. From photos I’d seen online, the sweeping views of Kuala Lumur’s skyline here are absolutely astonishing. Not to mention, the drinks are too pretty to drink and on Thrusday nights, ladies drink for free! Well, selected cocktails only, but ya bet I’ll be back to experience Man Tao Bar!

Rooftop Infinity Pool

The hotel’s rooftop infinity pool is actually connected with Man Tao Bar. If the Malaysian heat is getting to you, cool down with a swim here and watch the sun set with a drink in hand.

Final Verdict

Pros

  • Relatively close to major attraction sights by car
  • Amazing rooftop views of Menara Kuala Lumpur

Cons

  • Mediocre breakfast
  • Bathroom marble floor can be a little slippery

I’m sold! I love a hotel with on site dining and a fitness centre, and the rooftop bar and infinity pool are just icing on the cake! I’m not super picky with breakfast but do prefer to have local cuisines when I travel, so I think I would’ve liked to see more of what locals eat for breakfast rather than a western breakfast. It is complimentary though, after all, so can’t complain much! Will definitely be staying here next time I’m in KL!

I’m the same about trying local cuisines when travelling. But you’re right, it’s complimentary and it is convenient. Apart from the breakfast, I had a fantastic stay here and I’m sure you would too, Diana!

This looks like a beautiful hotel and a great place to stay in Kuala Lumpa. The room looked very clean and stylish and the infinity pool had a stunning view. I think it’s proximity to local sights is also a big bonus.

What a beautiful hotel to stay in KL. The studio seemed very large for a studio room. The decor was very tastefully done. The bathroom also looked large from your photos. I would definitely stay here when next visiting KL.

What a beautiful room, I really like the design. And that pool looks lovely. Looks like a fine place for trip to Kuala Lumpur. Sorry to hear that their breakfast didn“t live up with the rest of the hotel. It is really useful to find this kind of reviews when choosing a hotel.

Even though I personally didn’t enjoy the breakfast, I wouldn’t dismiss the hotel completely just because of that. Like you said, the design is beautiful and the rooftop pool is a huge bonus. Not to mention its location. Hope you’ll consider booking a stay with them for your next Malaysia trip! šŸ™‚

What a classy place to stay in KL> Loved the beige and brown interiors. Especially loved the B&W portraits. Just adds a lot of character to the rooms. Will try and drop by on my next visit! Kudos!

Agreed! One of the first things I noticed was the B&W photograph on the wall. If and when you do visit, let them know I sent ya!

I love this hotel. It’s very modern and looks like a great place to relax in. I think it’s great that they let ladies drink free on Thursdays. That must draw a crowd. Sorry that you weren’t feeling well while you were in Malaysia! Hopefully, you get to experience it again.

I think the promo is quite popular in KL not just at this hotel! And thanks Martha! I actually did get a second chance to revisit again šŸ™‚

I loved that mirror. The first look of your room got me. It looked very comforting to me and something that I would love to. It looks apt for modern day travelers. What more do you want when you have a gym, lovely rooftop infinity pool and great food too. Kuala Lumpur is a lovely city. I like it for the Petronas, KL tower and its vibes.
