Bali is perhaps one of the most versatile destinations I have ever visited. You got historic temples, gorgeous waterfalls, lush rice paddies, monkey sanctuaries, traditional markets, beautiful beaches, epic beach parties, and gosh the list goes on! Each area has its own unique charms that you are guaranteed to fall in love with Indonesia. If you are someone who enjoys a nice relaxing vacation in a tranquil, tropical oasis, Ubud would be the perfect town for you and I highly recommend a stay at Goya Boutique Resort – where modern luxury meets Balinese hospitality.

Getting Here
From Ngurah Rai International Airport, it takes approximately an hour by car to arrive at Goya. I would suggest getting in touch with the resort first to arrange for airport pick-up. Additional fees apply.
Check-In
Check-in was very straight forward. We encountered no problems at all and the staff were extremely welcoming. Moments after we arrived to our villa, we were even sent some refreshing juice and a plate of fresh fruits.
One Bedroom Private Pool Villa
As its name suggests, the One Bedroom Private Pool Villa is a 150sqm villa with its very own swimming pool. It features one extra-large double bed and is perfect for two. In addition, there is an outdoor terrace if you’d like to read a book under the sun or enjoy a lovely meal.
Floating Breakfast
Floating breakfasts are definitely a Bali must.
Having seen viral Instagram photos online, I’d thought this was the most impractical and uncomfortable way to eat breakfast. As soon as our breakfast was delivered to us, however, I was squealing with joy and marvelling over this insanely photogenic breakfast spread.
And okay, to be fair, we did take out the breakfast tray afterwards. But talk about the cutest photo op!
Goya Spa
We’d originally booked to try their outdoor jungle spa, but with so many things to see in Bali and us only having about four nights on the island, we simply didn’t have time. Regardless, I got a tour of their spa facility and it is absolutely stunning. Will definitely have to revisit again and will report back with my experience!
Do note that the jungle spa is right beside the public pool. If you prefer a quieter setting, you may reserve for treatment downstairs in Goya’s indoor facility.
Public Pool
While the private villa swimming pool is reason enough for why you don’t need to leave your room, Goya’s public pool with expansive views of the lush jungle forest will blow you away.
Other Goya Experiences
Apart from the floating breakfast and spa, Goya offers other unique experiences as well such as the Balinese Cooking Class priced at IDR 450k/person (approximately $30 USD or $40 CAD). Guests also have the option of signing up for excursions which cover the following five main destinations:
- Tegalalang Rice Terrace
- Gunung Kawi Temple
- Holy Water Temple (Tirta Empul)
- Mount Batur or Tegenungan Waterfall
- Elephant Cave Temple
Price for Ubud excursions are IDR 650k net/car (approximately $45 USD or $60 CAD).

- 24-hour front desk services
- Staff speak fluent English. (By far the best English speakers we’d encountered on the island!)
Cons
- This resort will make you wish you never had to leave!
For those who have been reading my blog for awhile, this is perhaps one of the few reviews I have written where there are no cons at all. Although I will say that one minor flaw is there are geckos and various insects. However, with this being a villa with an outdoor pool in a tropical country, it’s not uncommon. In fact, I’d seen way more insects at other resorts versus here. (I only saw one gecko and maybe 1-2 mosquitoes.) Not to mention, once you close the room doors and hide away into the mosquito net, you will sleep like a baby.

Wow, you have just shown how a boutique hotel sometimes beats the big chains. I love that four-post bed and the theme for the spas., too, plus the ultra-private water features with loads of plants!
Right!? Tbh, I actually prefer boutique over chain at times for that more personal/homey touch!
Accommodations in Ubud are amazing – just like this one. Many villas have a private pool, but here, I like the view from the bathtub a lot. I wish I could go back to Bali soon.
Next time you’re back you’ll have to book a stay here then! š
Now I’ve seen it all with a floating breakfast how amazing is that especially in your own privacy – I love it! The room looks amazing and definitely worth a stay
Telle me about it!!! Just thinking back about that floating breakfast now has me drooling all over my laptop!
Ugh, all these gorgeous Bali resorts! I have never been and they all look amazing, I don’t know what I am going to do when I actually plan a trip as there are SO many to choose from. I love the personal pool for the privacy, that is such a perk!
Well, to make that choice easier for you… I would DEFINITELY book here. Its pool villas are super affordable compared to other places and the location is perfect if you prefer a more quiet + relaxing vibe versus the party scene in Seminyak. Highly recommended!!!
Looks like a gorgeous place to stay. How long did you spend trying to get that Isnta shot with the breakfast tray?
Probably a little too long, but only because it was so photogenic and I’d never seen anything like it in my entire life!
You had me at monkey sanctuaries! I wouldn’t mind being sat by that pool rather than working at home today. A stand alone bathtub is also always a winner for me.
Ughh you and me both! Totally wishing I were back in this beautiful paradise!
I have been to Bali and I am quite familiar with the intriqute design of Balinese villas and resorts, pleasures and benefits of Balinese massage… The Goya Boutique Resort is one of those beautiful places in Bali that everyone would like to treat themselves with. You know what? A Balinese resort is always a good idea.
Hahaa ya bet! Hope this will inspire you to book a stay with them the next time you’re back in Bali š
Iām heading to Bali in a couple of weeksā time and am super excited to see your post. Goya looks so amazing. And the fact that they can organise airport pick ups for you sounds like your holiday starts with ease. Do love the look of that floating breakfast too!
OH FUN!!!!! My reply’s a little late, but hope you had a blast in Bali <3
Lovely setting… love that infinity pool! Seems like it has been named after a great painter. So, aesthetics are expectedly top notch!
Hahaa yes, it shares the same name with Francisco Goya. Perhaps that’s why the resort is so aesthetically pleasing and just like a scene out of a painting š
Wow! The Goya Boutique resort is just so amazing and your cons in just so perfect. I would never feel like leaving this setting. Spa in the forest sounds interesting and your pictures are great as always.
Right!? Both my mom and I had a hard time saying goodbye and we already can’t wait to be back!
