Meet me under the electric daisy.

In case you couldn’t already tell from the title and the Insomniac photos, I WENT TO EDC! EDC Las Vegas to be exact. My first time at an EDC event and my first time in Vegas. Crazy!!!

I’d gone with one of my girlfriends whom I’d literally only met a few times (if you’ve been following my blog, there’s something with me and travelling with people I don’t really know well eh?) and since we were only in Vegas for EDC for the three days, we stayed on the strip at The Mirage. Although I’d been dying to check out either Aria or Cosmo, we were really only going to be in the hotel for a few hours of sleep so we went with a cheaper hotel. Even then, Mirage was still not bad.

We arrived the afternoon of the 19th and after checking in, we ventured out to the Grand Canal Shoppes at The Venetian hotel. Oh and iPhone photos starting now until the end of this night because silly me forgot to charge my SLR battery!

No lunch for us so instead of shopping around, we hit up Cañonita for Mexican night.

We followed up the evening with a Cirque du Soleil show at New York-New York.

What can I say… Wow. Just wow. The show was called Zumanity and it was sensual, it was sultry, it was sexy. Very fitting theme for a first trip to sin city Las Vegas, but boy did I almost die from holding my breath for too long. I’m not a big fan of acrobatic performances and was so worried the entire time that the performers would fall or injure themselves. Needless to say, it was a beautiful experience nonetheless.

We strolled along the strip and slowly made our way back to the hotel… And let the night begin! (Get ready for super blurry bad quality photos.)

We took the shuttle to and from the venue and on the way there, we got to know the guys sitting behind us. Kevin, Michael, and Quenton. Super awesome, super cool guys. Shoutout to them and Canada represent!

Next day we hit up Drai’s Beach Club for their EDC Weekend event featuring Adventure Club, 3LAU, & DANNIC w/ Kirill Was Here.

You thought drinks were expensive in Canada? Expect to pay double at clubs in Vegas! Oh, and ladies admission were half of what the gents had to pay, why was I not surprised.

Day 2 EDC we decided to go as… flower girls…? I don’t even know… I made these costumes with no particular theme in mind, just thought hey flowers here, flowers there, alright good to go.

This was sadly Kevin and Mike’s last night, but Quenton stayed for all three and he joined us at our hotel pool the morning after.

My flight was couple hours after EDC Day 3 closing ceremony, so this was our last day to really explore Vegas. We weren’t gamblers, but that didn’t stop us from enjoying the strip.

We’d been eating burgers, fries, and what not back at the hotel restaurants most of the times, so for the last meal, we dined at Joe’s Seafood Prime Steak and Stone Crab at the Forum Shops. Fancy schmancy!

And so we ate, we got ready, and to be honest, I was a bit nervous about this final night. For two days in a row, we got back to the hotel in the mornings and slept until only 11~noon-ish. My body was actually so tired and sleep deprived (and dehydrated; welcome to the Nevada desert). I didn’t think I’d be up for another night of shenanigans, but honestly, when you get to the venue, you immerse yourself in the music and the atmosphere, and the amazing people you meet… Everything about this fantasy just makes you feel so alive!

Oh and by amazing people, I mean these two other friendly gentlemen from Mexico (if I remember correctly). As well as another fellow Asian brother whom I never got the name of, but we just felt a deep connection (we Asians, we tight). It’s definitely true what people say about EDC. People you meet here are without a doubt the most friendliest, the most caring, and the most fun, down to earth, extraordinary souls you can meet. Ok maybe I exaggerate a little, but everyone I met was pre cool.

Fireworks on all three nights, definitely my favorite part about EDC.

Three days of EDC. Would you believe me if I said I was sober all three days? Three sober, ecstatic days. When the music, the mood, the vibe, everything is right, you feel – right. Like you belong. I finally understand why people refer to this as “coming home”. It’s an incredible feeling really. And despite some long lineups here and there, this was truly THE most amazing, THE most spectacular, THE most inspiring music festival I’ve ever been to.

Well, that’s a wrap! EDC Las Vegas, you were good to me! See you in the next post~
