About Fairmont San Francisco
This San Francisco luxury hotel is a four-star property situated in Nob Hill. It houses 606 guestrooms and suites, ten of which have been named as the city’s best balcony suites.
It offers incredible views of the Bay, and is home to renowned fine dining restaurants, as well as the iconic Tonga Room & Hurricane Bar.
In addition to being a top traveller’s destination, it is also the preferred choice for weddings and special events.
Getting Here
Depending on traffic, Fairmont San Francisco is located a 20 to 30-minute drive away from San Francisco International Airport. Taxis and Uber are readily available. Alternatively, you may rent a vehicle if you’re planning to road trip around the city. (Use code “JASMINE10” for $10 off your first booking with Kyte.)
Check-In
As mentioned above, check-in begins at 4:00PM. Early check-in is available. However, it is not guaranteed.
Main Building Balcony Suite
I had the pleasure of spending two nights in the Main Building Balcony Suite, otherwise known as the Singapore Suite.
This elegant suite features a spacious bedroom and living area, as well as an ornately filigreed terrace.
There is a queen bed and a sofa bed to accommodate up to four guests. Since there is only one bathroom, however, I would recommend this for a couples’ getaway. (Fighting for the shower in the morning definitely isn’t fun, especially when on a family vacation.)
Tonga Room & Hurricane Bar
If you’re in town on a romantic getaway, a fantastic date night idea in San Francisco is to enjoy dinner at the Tonga Room.
This tiki-themed lounge specializes in Polynesian-fusion dishes alongside live entertainment and tropical storm shows.
It is first come first serve and reservations are only for groups over ten guests. If you can’t secure a table for a sit-down dinner, you can order drinks and vibe out by the bar instead.
Around the Area
Nob Hill is one of the most luxurious neighborhoods in San Francisco. You can expect to find delicious restaurants and hip bars in the area. Not to mention, Fairmont San Francisco is also within walking distance to top attraction sights such as Union Square and Chinatown.

Pros
- Extremely spacious room with stellar views
- Luxurious and comfortable bedding
- Bathrooms are equipped with Le Labo toiletries
- Close proximity to major tourist attraction sights
- Onsite parking
- Car theft is a serious issue in San Francisco. Instead of leaving your vehicle on the streets or in a random lot overnight, this gives you peace of mind knowing that your car is secure. (You should still be careful and never leave valuables in your car!)
Cons
- No pool
- Based on your travelling style, this may or may not be disadvantageous. I personally did not find this to be an inconvenience, as I see San Francisco as a city destination, not a tropical vacation spot for lounging by the pool.
Overall, I was very pleased with my stay. The location is superb and Fairmont definitely deserves the title of being the best hotel in San Francisco with a view. I have nothing but great things to say about my experience and would recommend booking the Balcony Suite for your next vacation.
